Electric arc furnace roofs and treatmeant ladles have an important role in the steel-making process. They are lined with bricks and/or castings and, depending on the size of the furnace, may or may not be refrigerated by water.

From the point of view of refractory stress, they withstand a very important thermal shock, as they are subjected to high temperatures during the melting process and sudden cooling during scrap loading periods. In addition to the thermal shock, the refractory roof has to support the action of gases at high speed, electrode radiation, liquid steel splashes, etc.

They are mainly lined with refractory bricks and/or concrete whose main element is alumina. Bauxite is normally the raw material used to manufacture them.

INSERTEC presents both options for lining the roofs of arc furnaces. We adapt to the configuration and size of each installation.
